Updated May 2026.
In a city where most people don't have cars, a coffee shop is often your best option when your baby needs a change on the go. Low cost, low stakes, and infinitely better than a park bench in the middle of January.
NYC coffee shops are notoriously small. Many don't even have a bathroom, let alone a changing table. We asked the Let's Go Baby community what baby-friendly actually means for a coffee shop, the answer was clear: a changing table and enough space to bring the stroller inside.
So we trekked across Brooklyn in 93 degree heat to find out which spots actually work with babies and young kids.
You'll notice most of these spots are clustered around DUMBO, Downtown Brooklyn, and Williamsburg — and that's not a coincidence. New construction in NYC is required by law to install changing tables, which means newer builds are a safer bet than the charming hole-in-the-wall spots in older brownstone buildings. Interestingly, we couldn't find a single coffee shop in Park Slope (AKA baby town), with a changing table. If you know of one, let us know.

Changing table · Kids options · Stroller storage
Bright, roomy space with easy stroller access via a large front ramp. Order-at-the-counter café with a South Asian-inspired menu — try the kathi-rito. Every Thursday at 4:30pm they host a free drop-in storytime for toddlers. Oh, and it doubles as a wine bar.

The Lobby at Ace Hotel Brooklyn
252 Schermerhorn St, Downtown Brooklyn
Changing table · Kids options · Stroller storage
Located inside the Ace Hotel in Downtown Brooklyn, The Lobby is equal parts coffee shop, bar, and café. The open lobby seating means plenty of room for strollers and kids to roam freely. Bonus: changing tables in both the men's and women's restrooms.

% Arabica
20 Old Fulton St, DUMBO
Stroller storage · Changing table · Kids options · Outdoor seating
Steps from the water and a 3-minute walk from Jane's Carousel, this % Arabica sits right on the DUMBO/Brooklyn Heights border. Sleek and modern as you'd expect from the brand, but this location has a changing table, easy stroller access, and Aesop hand soap in the bathroom. Try the cardamom lemonade — toddler approved.

K'Far Cafe
97 Wythe Ave, Williamsburg
Stroller storage · Changing table · Kids options
Located inside the Hoxton Hotel in Williamsburg — and if you haven't caught on yet, hotel coffee shops are a reliable bet for finding a changing table. Take the elevator down to the café level, where you'll find open seating with plenty of stroller room. Hungry? Grab a seat at K'Far's Israeli restaurant right next door.

Butler
40 Water St, DUMBO
Kids options · Changing table · Stroller storage · Outdoor seating
A cozier space than some on this list, but don't let that deter you. Order-at-the-counter café with brunch available alongside coffee. The bathroom features a custom-built changing table that blends seamlessly into their dark navy walls — you might almost miss it. Pro tip: Butler's Williamsburg location on 5th Ave has no built-in changing table, but the wooden bench in the bathroom works in a pinch, and there's a large outdoor patio.

Joe Coffee Company
45 Washington St, DUMBO
Stroller storage · Changing table
One of the roomier spots on this list. Tables inside, stroller storage, changing table, and a ramp for easy access. A reliable, no-fuss option in DUMBO.

Bluestone Lane
55 Prospect St, Brooklyn
High chairs · Stroller storage · Changing table · Kids options
Australian café known for the classics — think avocado toast and solid coffee. Order at the counter or settle in for a full sit-down. Ramp access, room for strollers, high chairs, and a changing table. A brunch spot that checks all the boxes.

Der Pioneer
737 Church Ave, Kensington
Changing table · Menu modifications · Outdoor seating · Stroller storage
Submitted by Michelle, a parent in our community. Der Pioneer is a beloved neighborhood coffee shop and bakery in Kensington — and while it's on the cozier side for strollers inside, it made this list for one reason: a changing table, which is rare for a spot like this. Bar-height seating inside and outdoor seating available.
